The History of East Wake High School
1933-1965- Wendell kids went to Wendell High School in downtown Wendell.
1926-1965- Knightdale kids went to Knightdale High School in downtown Knightdale.
1965-1977- Vaiden Whitley High School was built on the North Campus of the current East Wake High School facility. Wendell and Knightdale kids were combined together and went to Vaiden Whitley High School.
Vaiden Whitley High School was a 3A school and the colors were Columbia Blue and White.
1977- East Wake High School was built on the South Campus and became the new High School in Eastern Wake county. Vaiden Whitley High School was turned into Vaiden Whitley Middle School and the Wendell and Knightdale kids went there from 6th thru 8th grade.
East Wake High School was a 3A school and the colors were Columbia Blue and White.
1990- East Wake High School became the High School for Wendell, Knightdale and Zebulon kids. Zebulon High School shut down in 1989 and the Zebulon kids joined East Wake.
East Wake High School became a 4A school kept the Warrior name and the colors were changed to the Blue and Gold of Zebulon High School.
2004- East Wake High School transferred the Knightdale kids to the new Knightdale High School and kept the Wendell and Zebulon kids. East Wake continued to be a 4A school and the colors stayed Blue and Gold.
2013- East Wake High School transferred kids that lived north of Zebulon to the new Rolesville High School. East Wake became a 3A school again in 2017 and the colors are still Blue and Gold.
